An office move is mostly planning. The lifting is the easy part. So every office job starts with a site visit to both buildings with whoever is running the move on your side, and ends with a written plan: which floor goes first, where the lorry parks, which lift we can use and when, and what each desk number on the new floor plan means.
A week before
We deliver plastic crates and a label sheet for every person. Each crate gets the desk number from the new floor plan. Staff pack their own drawers; we pack shared cupboards, kitchens and the files room.
On the night
We start when the office closes. Monitors are wrapped, PCs go in padded crates and cables are bagged with each machine. Desks come apart where they need to and the lorry is loaded in the order the new office will be filled.
Monday morning
Every crate is on the desk with its number. Our move manager stays on site from 8:00 until lunchtime to sort out anything that is in the wrong place, and we collect the empty crates within the week.
