Most removal quotes are a guess made over the phone, and the guess gets corrected on the day, usually upwards. We do it the other way round. Before we give you a price, one of our supervisors walks through your home, either in person or on a 20-minute video call, and writes down every room, every awkward staircase and where the lorry can park.
That survey sets three things: the size of the vehicle, the number of movers, and the hours on the job. Those three numbers make the price, and the price is written into your booking. If our estimate of the stairs was wrong, that is our problem.
How the day runs
The crew arrives between 7:30 and 8:00. The supervisor walks round with you first, agrees what goes and what stays, and lays floor runners down. Furniture is blanketed and strapped, beds and wardrobes are taken apart with their fixings bagged and taped to them, and the lorry is loaded heavy and low at the front with boxes on top and the fragile cartons last on, so they are first off.
At the other end, the supervisor stands at the door with the room plan and every box goes to the room written on it. Beds go back together before anything else, so you can sleep in the new place that night.
Longer distances
A move to Bristol, Swansea or London is still one crew and one day in most cases. Beyond about 180 miles we plan an overnight stop or a two-day move and tell you at the survey. Long-distance moves are priced by the mile on top of the local rate, and the calculator shows both.
